Calculators

A look at the built-in calculators of L'Math.

Built-in calculator programs

L'Math comes with a collection of different calculators:

  • Abicus, the calculator used in the official Finnish matriculation exams
  • Vallu replica, similar to the medical school exam calculator
  • L'Math calculators, providing just a "regular" calculator experience

Abicus

Abicus is a simple calculator program used in the official Finnish matriculation exams. It is integrated into L'Math as-is and gets updated to the latest version whenever substantial changes have been made.

The integrated Abicus calculator functions separately from the other L'Math calculators and can always be opened through the utility menu regardless of the default calculator selected.

You can change the zoom and stay-to-top setting of the Abicus window in the settings.

The L'Math calculators

You can select one of these calculators from L'Math settings.

Vallu replica

L'Math bundles a replica of the Vallu exam calculator. Since the actual exam calc is not open source, the L'Math calculator really is a replica and seeks to do most of the same things as the actual calculator does (however, no guarantees given!)

Basic calculator

The "Basic Calculator" (same as the function calculator, due to legacy versions) mimics the default calculators of different operating systems. It has the basic functions and operations and nothing more.

L'Math-komentorivilaskin

The L'Math command line calculator, or "Traditional L'Math calculator," is a simple command-based calculator that allows the use of Math.js library features. It displays your calculation history and can, among other things, calculate simple derivatives.

Calculator accuracy

The L'Math calculators are based on original versions from 2019. There is room for improvement in their calculation accuracy, and the L'Math calculator programs may be replaced in the future with some that have a better math engine.
